Dear Friends
of Berta's:
On behalf of myself, my wife Sandi, and our staff, I would like
to welcome you to our site. It might seem a little strange that
a nearly eighty year old (founded in 1927), traditional restaurant
has a web-site but Berta's has never been conventional. Alongside
such hard to find menu choices such as Frog's Legs and Sweetbreads,
we do more modern dishes
like Pink Snapper from Argentina, Char with Jamaican spices, or
a low fat Pate based on fresh Turkey (three recent specials); for
a rather remote (not since the coming of I-287 !!), country restaurant
the wine list is beyond world class: selected by "The
Wine Spectator" as one of the country's finest Italian lists
and honored by them for over 14 years with their "Best Award
of Excellence" Certificate. We recently unearthed
a very old winelist from the late 1930's and my grandfather was
serving Classified Bordeaux and Grand Cru Burgundy.
In addition to a bit of history, we hope you find the information here useful. I would like to thank my cousin Catherine
Cousins-McLeod without whom this site wouldn't exist.
